Sadio Mane’s Liverpool teammates Virgil Van Dijk and Kostas Tsimikas have posted their farewell messages.
Van Dijk sent a heartfelt message to the man he had shared a dressing room with at two different teams on his Instagram story.
“Wishing you all the best at your next adventure,” wrote Virgil. “You will be missed brother, leaving as a BIG Liverpool legend.”
Tsimikas, also writing on Instagram, went with a similar theme. “We will miss you brother,” said the Greek Scouser, coupled with a picture of the two celebrating a goal together.
We’re not crying, promise!
Getting used to goodbyes
Over the next few days, Mane will likely get a lot of farewell messages when his transfer to Bayern Munich is finalized.
You can’t just walk away quietly after accomplishing what the Senegalese have at Liverpool.
These Liverpool players have spent a lot of time together at the club. Mane has played a significant role in the success of previous years, therefore his departure will undoubtedly be regretted deeply.
That’s football, though. We’ll have to get used to saying goodbye in the coming years as Jurgen Klopp’s first outstanding Liverpool team begins to gradually disband.
Luckily, players like Van Dijk, Alisson Becker and Fabinho have just recently committed their futures to the club.
Even though we lose legends like Mane and possibly Mohamed Salah, the foundation of the team will still be there. New players like Luis Diaz also provide the prospect of more success.
In life, it’s common to only realize how good something was after you’ve lost it. Mane’s accomplishments at Liverpool will become even more significant once he leaves the team.
Goodbye Sadio, and thanks for all the goals!
