The main things we picked up from day four of Liverpool’s pre-season.

Liverpool’s first week of pre-season training is still ongoing at the club’s base in Kirkby.

The Reds have started to get back into the groove of things since their return on Monday.

The club has posted pictures and video from the session on Thursday.

Before they took off on their tour of the Far East, here are the three things that we spotted.

    Pitaluga involved

For the 2022–2023 campaign, Marcelo Pitaluga has been loaned out.

After joining Macclesfield, the Brazilian goalkeeper gets his first taste of senior football.

He participated in Tuesday’s 2-1 friendly win over Crewe Alexandra for the Silkmen.

However, because Macclesfield competes in Division One West of the Northern Premier League, it means they are part-time.

Pitaluga’s participation in Thursday’s session suggests that he will still visit Kirkby on a frequent basis.

Of course, the Silkmen won’t be with Klopp’s team every day because of their busy schedule of games.

But John Achterberg, the goalkeeping coach, will be able to keep a close eye on the young player.

    New youngsters get their chance

A number of youngsters have already been spotted with Liverpool.

While the Reds wait for players like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Mo Salah to report back, bright prospects in the academy are having the chance to shine.

Mateusz Musialowski and Dominic Corness, two fresh faces, were given the chance to impress Klopp with their abilities.

Muisalowski joined the Reds from the Polish team SMS Lodz two years ago. He is a left winger who has played for Poland’s under-19 team.

Corness, meantime, is a left-footed player with versatility who can play either fullback or midfield.

    Henderson absence explained

Back in attendance were senior players Joe Gomez, who recently signed a new contract, James Milner, Luis Diaz, Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Joel Matip, and Luis Diaz.

    Jordan Henderson, however, was not.

This is due to the Liverpool captain’s presence at the Palace while in London.

Not Crystal Palace – He won’t be joining the Eagles.

For his assistance with the NHS during the Covid-19 outbreak, Henderson was in Buckingham Palace to receive his MBE.

The Reds captain will now return to Merseyside before the pre-season tour.
