Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has already weighed in on the Gunners’ most recent midfield transfer target Lucas Paqueta, and the Emirates faithful gave a positive response to that.

The Lyon star is the most recent player to be connected with a move to the North London side, and it’s said that Arsenal technical director Edu is eager to close the deal as quickly as possible. Newcastle United is another Premier League team keeping an eye on Paqueta as well.

According to GOAL, the Gunners have informed the players’ agents that they intend to put together a proposal before the transfer window closes, but they have not yet made Lyon an official offer. The French team is asking £67 million for the player.

Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry has previously expressed his appreciation on the record for the 24-year-old Paqueta. Late last year, the Frenchman told Amazon Prime Video via Foot Radio: “It’s early but frankly what he’s doing… we talked about it after his match at the Parc des Princes.”

“Yes, I enjoy dribbling and blind passes, but what I enjoy is his passion, activity, selflessness, and devotion,” he concluded. Although, this isn’t generally true of all Brazilians. A player who is in good condition is slightly more difficult to replace or less effective for the team when he is not in possession of the ball.

“This player’s ability to perform both with a smile really impresses me. He attacks and defends with a smile. In my opinion, this is the reason why we can already speak of one of the top players in the championship.

Arsenal are reportedly hoping Lyon will reduce their asking price, but with three years remaining on Paqueta’s contract, the Ligue 1 team is hardly in a position where they need to consider selling at a discount price.

The former Milan midfielder has played 33 times for Brazil’s national team, and the expanding Brazilian community at Arsenal would welcome him if he were to sign with the Gunners.

Gabriel Magalheas, Gabriel Martinelli, and Gabriel Jesus are all members of Arteta’s side and have all worn the renowned yellow shirt of the Selecao at the senior level. Marquinhos, a Brazilian teenager, has also competed for his country at the youth level.

According to Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas, the club has received offers for Paqueta this summer. There are certain players who can feel complete in the project, and there are others who don’t.

We have the resources to pursue our ideas and goals economically. The coach shared his thoughts with us, and the players also expressed their desires,” he added.
