The agent of Liverpool and Manchester United transfer target, Antony, reportedly visited England this week.
Junior Pedrosa, the Brazilian winger’s agent, is reported to have traveled to the north-west to discuss a possible transfer before the 2022–23 season.
In the Eredivisie last year, Antony had a productive season under Erik ten Hag, the new Man Utd head coach, scoring 12 goals as the Amsterdam team won the league championship. The Brazilian has been heavily connected with a move to Old Trafford, but Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, is also keen on luring him to Anfield for next season.
The demands of Ajax, however, have caused a stumbling block in the transfer. The Dutch giants are demanding over £68 million for his services.
The Daily Mail and the Times claims that Pedrosa, one of the forward’s agents, has been seen in Manchester. He might be trying to negotiate personal terms on behalf of his client with the 20-time English champions in order to put pressure on Ajax to sanction a quicker sale.
Ajax’s signing of Steven Bergwijn from Tottenham Hotspur is another proof that they are prepared for life without Antony.
It remains to see how the situation unfolds and if Liverpool are still in the game.
