Borussia Dortmund midfielder, Jude Bellingham, has been linked to a number of clubs, including Liverpool and Real Madrid. The 19-year-old has been advised by former Scotland and Rangers manager Alex McLeish to ‘snub’ the Spanish giants in favor of a move to Anfield.
In the summer of 2020, Jude Bellingham moved from Birmingham to Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth €25 million. In 90 games across all competitions for the Bundesliga’s juggernauts, the midfielder scored 10 goals and provided 10 assists.
Alex McLeish thinks it’s time for the midfielder to go back home and play in the Premier League after making a name for himself at Signal Iduna Park. In line with that, the tactician has emphasized that Jurgen Klopp’s team is the ideal place for him to ply his trade.
“Jude has served his time abroad,” the former Scotland and Rangers manager told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I always feel, when you are that age, that you want to play for someone in the Premier League. Why not Liverpool?” he added.
Jude Bellingham would be better off choosing the Reds over Real Madrid, according to Alex McLeish. The Scotsman claims that even though the Spanish team seems appealing, the footballer may face difficulties in settling there.
“A couple of years ago they [Liverpool] won the Champions League and they have recently won the Premier League.
“They are flying every single season, they are a force to be reckoned with. Why not Liverpool?
“Real Madrid might come in but is it the name that catches you more than the way you can settle into a club?” he said.
How much Jude Bellingham could cost Liverpool and Real Madrid
According to the German publication Sport Bild, Borussia Dortmund has placed a whopping £103 million price tag on Jude Bellingham. This is a lot more than the player’s true market value, which according to Transfermarkt is €80 million.
In the upcoming weeks, it is uncertain which of the two teams will make a proposal for the midfielder.
