Matt Turner is in London, according to Football London, to complete his medical and move from the New England Revolution to Arsenal.
After learning that Bernd Leno was considering leaving after losing his starting position to Aaron Ramsdale last season, Mikel Arteta realized he needed a new goalkeeper.
Turner became a surprising target for Arsenal in January, and after talks with the New England Revolution, a deal was quickly finalized. Turner will join Arsenal on July 1st, subject to a medical, the MLS team announced in a statement back in February.
According to Football London, the 28-year-old goalkeeper is currently in the city for his medical and to complete the transfer to Arsenal. The player’s wife shared a photo of the two at the London Shard.
According to the rumor, Turner is about to be unveiled as our newest signing, with Arsenal supposedly paying New England £7.5 million for the goalkeeper, however the deal is purportedly for £5 million up front with an additional £2.5 million in future add-ons.

We’ll have to wait for Arsenal to publicly announce this deal, but Turner is anticipated to back up Ramsdale next season. With the German international reported to be returning to the Bundesliga, his arrival will also allow Leno to depart.
After a string of standout performances, Turner was named the best goalkeeper in the MLS last year. The 6ft 3in shot-stopper has 18 caps for the US national team, so hopefully he turns out to be a wise signing.
This has been a busy week at the Emirates, as Arsenal and Man City also agreed on a £45 million fee for Gabriel Jesus, and sources indicate that we will also make new offers for Raphinha and Lisandro Martinez.
In order to assemble a team that is competitive next season, Arteta has already signed winger Marquinhos and offensive midfielder Fabio Vieira, indicating that the club is serious about doing business this summer.
