Arsenal’s players showed their support for Pablo Mari before and during Sunday’s game with Nottingham Forest.
Mari, who is currently on loan from Arsenal at Monza in Italy, was stabbed in the back during an unprovoked attack at a supermarket in Milan on Thursday.
Multiple people were injured at the scene and one man died.
Mari had been in hospital since the attack but was discharged and allowed to return home on Sunday afternoon.
He got home shortly after Arsenal had beaten Forest 5-0 at the Emirates Stadium
Ahead of the game, Arsenal’s players posed for a team photo on the pitch while holding up a jersey printed with Mari’s name and squad number, 22.
Gabriel Martinelli scored Arsenal’s first goal of the game and celebrated by holding up the jersey again.
After the match, Mari posted a message on his Instagram Story confirming he was “finally home” from hospital.
He then uploaded photos of the Arsenal players with his jersey and added: “You are amazing. Thank you”.
