Speaking to Liverpool’s official club website, Jurgen Klopp delivered some bad news about Calvin Ramsay.
The Scottish full-back, who joined the Reds from Aberdeen last month, has sadly already experienced a setback in his Liverpool career.
Apparently, Klopp said. The full-back is yet to participate in a first-team training because of an injury.
Ramsey’s injury, according to Klopp, could have been quite serious in the future if it hadn’t been treated right away, but he shouldn’t be out for too long.
WHAT’S BEEN SAID?
Klopp spoke about Ramsay and his injury.
“Unfortunately, Calvin is currently not training with us because of a little injury. Nobody was aware, but we found out during his medical check. He hasn’t had any issues up to this point, but the medical staff has warned us that if we don’t address that right away, he will in the future,” Klopp added.
He has a long career ahead of him at his young age, so we must be very responsible now. He hasn’t trained with the team yet, but he has been working hard on his fitness. So, I don’t think it will take too long.
“So I didn’t see him yet in training but everything we saw about him, we heard about him, I heard from him: a fantastic boy. And what a player he is, what he did for Aberdeen last year, absolutely exceptional.”
BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY
Ramsay’s injury comes as a huge blow after joining Liverpool, but as Klopp noted, it could have gone worse if it wasn’t treated right away.
Yes, it’s disappointing to learn that he hasn’t started training yet, but in these circumstances, it’s better to err on the side of caution.
At his age, Ramsay still has a lot of years ahead of him, so a few weeks on the sidelines won’t matter much now. However, if this injury hadn’t been caught early, it might have had an impact on his entire career.
Fingers crossed the defender will be fit and ready for the start of the season.
