Gabriel Jesus moving to Arsenal appears to be happening shortly, and Raphinha has been listed by Fabrizio Romano as the player the Gunners will aim to recruit after the Manchester City midfielder.
Yesterday, it was widely reported that Arsenal and Pep Guardiola’s team had reached a signing agreement for Jesus. The Brazilian international is expected to move to the Emirates after a few more aspects are settled, according to The Athletic, who report that the North Londoners will pay £45 million.
Jesus will be a great addition to Arsenal, and Edu deserves a lot of credit for perhaps securing this deal. The technical director of Arsenal, however, is not done yet.
After signing Jesus, according to Romano, Arsenal will seriously pursue Raphinha of Leeds United.
Romano said yesterday on his YouTube channel:
“Gabriel Jesus, after a long negotiation, Arsenal have been extremely good in reaching an agreement. It’s a full verbal agreement; it hasn’t yet been signed. He is one step away from joining Arsenal.
Regarding the reported interest from Arsenal in Raphinha, he said: “It seems incredibly unlikely for Barcelona to meet the price tag that Leeds are asking for — £65 million.
“Arsenal’s initial offer was declined, but Arsenal is still after Raphinha. Raphinha is also on Arsenal’s list in addition to Gabriel Jesus.
As a result, they are working hard to find a solution. Next week, I expect them to push even harder.

Arsenal’s signing of Jesus would be fantastic, but if they also sign Raphinha in the near future, the Gunners may start to emerge as one of the Premier League’s most dangerous teams.
Since arriving in England over two years ago, the Leeds United player has been outstanding. Illan Meslier referred to the Brazilian as an “amazing” player. Although many clubs are interested in signing the player this summer, it appears that Arsenal is the most serious.
If Edu can close this deal, it will be intriguing to see how Raphinha would fit in at Arsenal. The Leeds star’s best position is on the right wing, where Bukayo Saka is without a doubt the Gunners’ top choice.
That might make things a little more difficult, but given that Mikel Arteta “is in love” with Raphinha, the Arsenal manager must already have everything sorted out.
