Liverpool new signing Fabio Carvalho has named two positions he wants to play at Anfield and expressed his excitement for the pre-season schedule.
The Reds missed out on his signature in January, but had later announced his arrival in May.
He only cost the Merseyside club £7.7 million in a ridiculously overvalued market, and at 19 years of age, he’s eager to develop under the manager Jurgen Klopp.
It is still unclear how Carvalho fits into Klopp’s setup, though there are suggestions that he would initially be considered a forward with a long-term view of moving to midfield.
However, Carvalho himself detailed the two positions in which he feels more comfortable in his first interview with LFCTV.
“Obviously, I played more of the 10 role at Fulham. Here, it just depends on the formation that we play.
But I also like the wing because I have the creativity to go one-on-one and create things.
“Like I said, I’m more than comfortable playing anywhere, but those two positions are where I want to play.”
Carvalho led a strong partnership with Aleksandar Mitrovic for Fulham last season as they secured promotion to the Premier League, scoring ten goals and dishing out eight assists.
He will be one of 19 players who will join the Reds squad at Kirkby tomorrow to begin pre-season training before flying to Thailand for a friendly match against Manchester United.
Carvalho, who is “looking forward to every single bit” of the summer schedule, will have a brief introduction.
I’m just so eager to start, he continued.
“Obviously, the pre-season isn’t the most enjoyable part of football, but you have to go through it and finish it.
“I really can’t wait to start because it’s a great way to get to know everyone and the guys.
I am eagerly anticipating the upcoming years and every bit of pre-season.
