Arsenal has a lot of work to do this summer to improve the squad and continue to move toward Mikel Arteta’s aims. Players in various positions have previously been linked.
Arsenal’s key areas of improvement, according to the most significant links, are striker, central midfield, and full-back. The Gunners, on the other hand, are not waiting and have already completed one summer signing, with a second on the way.
Marquinhos, a Brazilian, is anticipated to be named as a new Arsenal player soon.
The Gunners have agreed to pay around £3 million for the 19-year-old, according to Sports Deputy. Marquinhos clearly will be the summer’s second signing.
Matt Turner, the goalie for the New England Revolution, signed a contract with Arsenal in January. In June, he will join the team and begin preseason training.
However, in a recent interview, the American international virtually revealed Bernd Leno’s impending departure. Aaron Ramsdale has taken over as the first choice goalkeeper this season, and there have been rumors that he could leave this summer.
Turner told Fox Soccer how he was informed he would be the club’s number two when he arrived. Leno’s departure was effectively announced.
“I’m going over there because I understand I have everything to fight for in preseason.” But I know Aaron has had a fantastic season for Arsenal and is regarded as their number one.
“I’m probably going to be the number two.” In my career, I’ve been rated much lower than number two. I’m going to show up every day, fully prepared to work.
“I’m heading over there to give it my all.” I’d like to see how far I can push this. I have nothing to lose because I have far exceeded practically everyone’s expectations for me.
“I’ve surpassed my own expectations, and now I want to see how far I can push things.” I’m going to keep driving and working hard, and I’m going to keep writing my tale.”
Leno has recently been connected with Benfica Correio da Manha, with Sport Witness stating that his countryman Roger Schmidt is interested in signing him. Arsenal is expecting a fee of €10 million (£8.5 million), which is more than what Turner will cost them.
While Leno is an excellent shot-stopper, his distribution has been questioned. Turner has made significant progress in this area, in addition to the goalkeeping qualities that Mikel Arteta seeks.
With players like Dinos Mavropanos, Lucas Torreira, and Matteo Guendouzi also generating club revenue, any additional funds will be greatly appreciated. Arsenal will be looking for another strong window to pursue their main targets, and Leno might be a significant part of that now.
