Barcelona want Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold (reported via Liverpool Echo). The La Liga side are ready to pay €80 million for the England international, according to Futbol Total (via Liverpool Echo).
The Blaugrana are reportedly interested in making the Reds star their statement signing in this summer transfer window to complete the squad.
If Barcelona are successful, Sergino Dest, the Spanish club’s current right-back, may be replaced (or even improved upon) by the 23-year-old. Manchester United and Atletico Madrid have expressed interest in Dest this summer.
The Spotify Camp Nou outfit have been brutal in their pursuit of Chelsea targets Raphinha and Jules Kounde from Leeds United and Sevilla so far in this transfer window. The Catalan team also secured Robert Lewandowski’s signature from Bayern Munich for a fee of €45 million (with add-ons).
Arnold has so far had a prolific career with the Merseyside-based club under boss Jurgen Klopp. He has played 227 games and has recorded 62 assists and 13 goals, which are impressive statistics for a full-back.
During the 2018–19 season, the 23-year-old played a key role in the English side’s stunning second-leg comeback victory over the Blaugrana, with Klopp’s men lifting the UEFA Champions League trophy that year.
This could be a tough test for Liverpool when we take a look at Barcelona actions in the market this summer. However, the Reds full-back has previously expressed his desire to play out the rest of his career at Anfield. He said (via Liverpool FC) in an interview with Sky Sports:
“To play for Liverpool is the dream, the aim, and I can’t see it changing, to be fair. As long as possible I want to have that relationship with Liverpool, to be a Liverpool player.”
