Two draws in two days

After the Carabao Cup third round draw last night, Liverpool now have another fixture on the schedule with Jurgen Klopp’s men set host Derby County.

That game will take place at Anfield in the week beginning November 7, with the Champions League group stage getting in the way of those ties being played before then. Manchester City will play Chelsea and Manchester United host Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa.

At 5pm this evening, the Champions League group stage draw will begin and Blood Red will be streaming it live on YouTube.

Atlético midfielder linked

According to the Spanish publication Fichajes, Liverpool are interested in signing Atlético Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente with their current midfield options either injured, underperforming, or have contracts that are about to expire.

Llorente, is a 27-year-old Spain international who can also play at right back, which could make him attractive in terms of his age (Liverpool only have one midfielder in their “peak” in Naby Keita), and his versatility would be useful as well.

The midfielder who is valued at £40 million by Transfermarkt, might be a really good target for Liverpool if Atlético Madrid are prepared to do business at this point in the summer, but the Reds could have explored a move months ago.

Frenkie de Jong steal

Liverpool are reportedly willing to sign Barcelona Frenkie de Jong this summer, with the Spanish club’s financial problems presenting an opportunity.

A fee of €63 million (£53 million) plus €8 million (£7 million) in add-ons, which is less than the £72 million agreement that Manchester United had reached earlier in the summer, is what Liverpool are ‘ready’ to offer, according to Ftbol Total. De Jong refused a move to Old Trafford, Barcelona are desperate, and supposed interest from Chelsea has so far gone no where either.

It’s debatable if the Reds should sign a player who doesn’t really want to leave Barcelona, but there’s no denying that De Jong is a real talent who would immediately infuse quality at Anfield.
