As a replacement for Divock Origi this summer, Liverpool are reportedly still interested in signing Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry.
THE LOWDOWN: GNABRY SUPERB FOR BAYERN
In the past few seasons, the German has succeeded while wearing the Bayern Munich jersey, winning the Champions League and scoring 64 goals in 171 games for the Bundesliga champions.
Last season, Gnabry led the league with 14 goals and five assists, and also hopes to star for Germany at the 2018 World Cup.
However, his current contract with Bayern expires next summer, so a new challenge might present itself sooner.
THE LATEST: REDS STILL IN THE MIX
Sport claims that Julian Ward and Co are eager to sign Sergey Gnabry this summer because they see him as the ideal replacement for Sadio Mane and the already departed Origi.
He is also seen as an alternative to Marco Asensio, who the Reds have recently been linked with recently.
THE VERDICT: IDEAL FIT, BUT IS HE NEEDED?
Rio Ferdinand has praised Gnabry as being “world-class,” and the prospect of him wearing a Liverpool jersey is definitely thrilling.
Nevertheless, the former Arsenal player will turn 27 this summer and may not be a long-term investment, something Jurgen Klopp often looks for in his signings.
In addition, Gnabry would undoubtedly anticipate starting each week, although Luis Diaz would be preferred in his left-sided attacking role. Because of this, it seems unlikely that a move will be made immediately, but if Mohamed Salah leaves next summer, he could arrive and switch to the right side.
