Italian journalist confirms Liverpool deal is "almost done", supporters will be gutted

This summer, Liverpool got the majority of their transfer incomings quickly, but they also confirmed a number of Anfield departures. Now, an Italian journalist has provided an update on the player who might be the next to leave Merseyside.

    What’s the latest?

Roberto Firmino’s €22 million (£18.4 million) transfer to Juventus is almost finalised, claims Italian journalist and transfer insider Pedro Almeida.

Almeida tweeted: “Roberto #Firmino to Juventus from Liverpool is almost done, the offer of Italian club is clear, 22M€ by the player. #Juventus”

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp on the other hand has once again ’emphasized’ Firmino’s importance in the team so it’s left to see how the situation turns out.

    Supporters will be gutted

If the current speculations regarding Firmino leaving Merseyside are true, Liverpool supporters will be devastated because the player has grown to be a fan favorite at the club since signing from Hoffenheim in 2015.

The Brazilian has played a significant role in Jurgen Klopp’s success at Anfield, helping the Reds win their first Premier League title and other trophies like the Champions League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup.

With a goal contribution return of one every 136 minutes, Firmino has scored 98 goals and provided 74 assists across 327 games in red, demonstrating how reliable and consistent he has been for the team.

It doesn’t make sense for Liverpool to let go of one of their most experienced forwards when Sadio Mane, Divock Origi, and Takumi Minamino have already left the this summer, with Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho only joining this summer and Luis Diaz signing in January.

The Liverpool manager is a huge fan of the team’s number nine and has frequently showered him with praise, even saying that Firmino will inspire “books” to be written about him.

Mo receives a lot of attention, and rightfully so, said Klopp. However, Bobby, for those who know football, I’m confident that after he retires, people will write books about the way he interpreted the false-nine position.

Given that, even if Firmino is in the final year of his contract, it would be shocking if Liverpool allowed him to leave this summer. He is a skilled and experienced player who can provide the team and his manager with the quality they need to continue competing for titles the next season.
