According to rumors in the Italian press, Arsenal is willing to loan away left-back Nuno Tavares provided a club agrees to a €40 million (£34 million) buy clause.
Atalanta are reportedly interested in signing the Portuguese defender, but despite paying Benfica £8 million for him last year, the Gunners are now wanting a five-fold gain on their investment.
The stated valuation surprised most supporters on Twitter, however some are relieved that Arsenal isn’t going to let Tavares leave for peanuts:
There’s also a chance that Tavares will be permitted to leave the Emirates on loan this summer without a buyout clause. The fullback battled with consistency during his first season in England, and it’s possible that if he can get consistent game time somewhere, he’ll be able to work out some of the kinks in his game and return next year as a better player.
