The most recent injury report for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has angered Liverpool supporters.

The 28-year-old midfielder will be out for two to three months as a result of a major hamstring injury sustained during pre-season, according to The Athletic journalist James Pearce.

Since joining the Reds from Arsenal in 2017, Oxlade-Chamberlain has played 133 games, but injury issues have plagued him the entire time.

With one year remaining on his current contract, the England midfielder has only appeared 30 times in the Premier League over the past two seasons. He hasn’t played for England since 2019 due to injury concerns, and at Liverpool, players like Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita, and Jordan Henderson are all ranked higher of him.

Reds supporters discussed the playmaker’s future on Twitter in the wake of this most recent fitness update. Many think that his most recent issue could be the final straw of his career at Anfield:

Jurgen Klopp wants Liverpool to use siege mentality for new season

Liverpool were on track to win an unprecedented quadruple last season, but after narrowly missing out on the Premier League and the Champions League, they were forced to settle for both domestic cups.

According to the German coach, his team has not been impacted by last season’s close calls and they intend to use the disappointment as fuel for the forthcoming season.

Klopp told a press-conference, as quoted by The Mail:

“I informed the guys about what I expected of them this year during a group meeting we had. I want to make better use of the togetherness, atmosphere, and collective experience we have. It is like that. We can become more unified and more deliberate in our actions.

“Both the players and I were not driven insane by what happened last season because it was part of the deal. However, let’s see if there is anything we can do with it and if we can utilize it to strengthen our determination. There is no guarantee for any kind of results.

“Everyone wants to hurt us, defeat us, and get a point against us. It will be quite tough but we will give it a try nevertheless because that is completely normal. ‘The things we do are good and can we do it better? Yes.

“Will that always result in a better outcome? That isn’t realistic because we won a lot of games, but we do aim to get better when it comes to performance.
