Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, has had his say on the next player Liverpool should sign. He thinks the 23-year-old midfielder would be a great addition to Jurgen Klopp’s team.
The midfield position has been identified by the Liverpool hierarchy as an area that needs improvement, and according to Romano, Liverpool should be in the transfer market for a midfielder.
Romano suggests Matheus Nunes of Sporting Lisbon as the perfect candidate to fill this void for the Reds, speaking in his column for Caught Offside.
“It’s gone quiet at Liverpool, as many expected, but if it were up to me I think I’d still be in the market for at least one more signing.” He wrote.
“Personally, I’d sign a new central midfielder. Jurgen Klopp wanted Aurelien Tchouameni when he was at Monaco and held some talks over the deal, but the player preferred Real Madrid.”
“I think another midfielder could help Liverpool, a player like Matheus Nunes, a talented 23-year-old from Sporting Lisbon, would be a smart idea. But Liverpool always think long-term and I’m sure they will invest in a midfielder in 2023.”
It makes sense for Liverpool to make a move for a talented young midfielder before the transfer window closes in light of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s most recent injury.
