Matheus Nunes declined the chance to join West Ham United, according to David Moyes.
The highly regarded Sporting Lisbon midfielder is in high demand during this summer transfer window.
With Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all out with injuries, Liverpool have been linked with Nunes.
Chelsea are also said to be interested as well.
However, ambitious West Ham have tried to prise Nunes to the London Stadium.
But Moyes confessed that the Portugal international had no interest in signing with the Hammers.
The West Ham boss said ahead of his side’s clash against Nottingham Forest on Sunday: “We made a bid for him but he chose not to come.”
Will Liverpool sign Nunes?
Liverpool are now lacking options in the center of the park due to injuries.
However, Jurgen Klopp has insisted that the Reds won’t panic just because the transfer market is open.
The Anfield boss claimed earlier today that his team has the answers to his problems.
He said: “If there was the right player and an opportunity, we would have done it, we would do it, but I don’t see it because we had a lot of conversations already and it doesn’t look like something will happen.
“I’m happy with the strength, size and quality of my squad but we have injuries. There are plenty of solutions for it. One of them is the transfer market, but that only makes sense if you can bring in the right player.
“All the other solutions are inside the squad. We have too many injuries, that’s clear. Naby will be back for Monday and Kostas (Tsimikas) will train today for the first time so he might be back as well.”
