This week, it was reported that Liverpool are willing to swap Naby Keita for Adrien Rabiot, but an Italian newspaper, CMW, claims that Juventus could demand another Reds player, in the form of Roberto Firmino instead.
The Reds now have 27-year-old Rabiot on their radar. According to The Telegraph, the Frenchman, who is valued at £17 million, wants to play in the Premier League and would consider joining any of England’s top four teams.
On Thursday, the Juventus star would enter the final 12 months of his contract with the club. Many clubs are likely to be interested in him, and Liverpool are considering a straight-swap deal involving Keita, whose contract expires in 2023 as well.
Juventus, though, has other plans. They might ask for Firmino instead of Keita – again, in the final year of his contract. Keita and Rabiot are both reportedly worth £17 million, but Firmino is reportedly worth between £26 million and £30 million.
JUVENTUS COULD REQUEST LIVERPOOL STAR FIRMINO IN RABIOT SWAP
The Old Lady has a strong midfield. Along with Rabiot, Arthur, Weston McKennie, Manuel Locatelli, Denis Zakaria, and Federico Bernadeschi. Given the level of competition, Juventus are actually open to Rabiot’s exit.
With his contract also expiring, it would make sense to reinforce another position rather than adding another midfielder in exchange for Rabiot. After loan agreements, Moise Kean and Alvaro Morata will depart.
Paulo Dybala is leaving on a free transfer and by signing Firmino for £180k per week (Spotrac), Juventus would have more depth up top. Given that Firmino has a little better cash rating, a player-plus-cash deal might be on the cards.
