Alisson Becker is eyeing more success for Liverpool after winning the FA Cup in a penalty shootout against Chelsea at Wembley.
The game ended 0-0, and the victor was decided in a penalty shootout, similar to the Carabao Cup final in February, in which Kostas Tsimikas emerged as the unlikely hero with his winning spot kick.
On the fifth penalty, Liverpool had a chance to win the shootout, but Sadio Mane’s spot kick was saved by Edouard Mendy, and Alisson saved Mason Mount’s kick, giving Tsimikas the chance to win it.
Alisson expressed his desire for more glory before the season comes to an end in an interview following the game: “It was incredible; we put on a fantastic show. We didn’t score in normal time, but it was a true battle, and anything might have happened. We kept a clean sheet and went to penalties, where the players scored incredible goals and I just had to save the last one. I’m overjoyed.
“Mendy and I made some incredible saves. I couldn’t have made the saves without the team’s assistance. Even when they had chances, we worked well defensively. They attempted to block the shots, which makes things easier for me, which I like.
“It was excellent. I believe all of the goalkeeper coaches assisted me in making judgments, and then I arrived. They’re all great players, but we deserved to win, and I only made the save for that reason. Going the extra mile and maintaining a high level of performance are both mentality beasts. This boosts our confidence ahead of the Premier League and Champions League finals.”
Alisson replied when questioned about Liverpool’s chances of winning more titles this season: “I hope so. I believe we should take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.”
