Liverpool are trying to strengthen their midfield, and Nicolo Barella is once again being mentioned.
The Reds were apparently preparing a 70 million euro bid to sign the Italian international last year (La Repubblica), but the deal fell through. They are now putting pressure to finally sign him.
The Merseysiders are reportedly interested in signing the Azzurri midfielder, according to Calcio Mercato Web. They keep pressuring, but the Nerazzurri do not want to lose their prized asset, therefore they have slapped a 90 million euro price tag on him.
Klopp is a major admirer of the 25-year-old player, according to an Italian news source, who is willing to agree to a move to Liverpool to work with the German manager (at all costs).
The Reds have plenty of quality and depth in the center of the field, but they lack a player who can consistently contribute to goals.
Barella was voted Serie A Midfielder of the Season in the 20-21 Scudetto-winning season. Under Antonio Conte’s guidance, he scored three goals and 13 assists in all competitions.
Inter, on the other hand, won the Coppa Italia and the Italian Super Cup last season, and he scored 17 goals in all competitions under Inzaghi.
Barella has made 39 appearances for the senior national team, and he was a major player of the Azzurri squad that won the European Championships last year.
However, the £82,000-a-week player (Leggo) failed to help his country qualify for the World Cup, which could be another solid reason to sign him.
Key Liverpool midfielders such as Fabinho, Henderson, and Thiago are scheduled to fly to Qatar for the World Cup and may return exhausted.
Should Klopp splash the cash to finally sign Nicolo Barella, in your opinion? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
